So I made Oreo cupcakes on Saturday, and they turned out awesome!  My plan is to try a new recipe every weekend.  Next week I'm making lemon poppy seed cupcakes with raspberry buttercream.  I hope I will have my camera back by then so I can start posting photos of my delicious sweets.  So until then I guess I can post some cakes that I made in the pass.

This is a cake that I made for my husband to take to a block party one of his family members were having.  It's a 1/2 sheet cake covered in buttercream and accented with fondant.  This was the second cake I ever made.

This is my very first post...... in my very first blog!!! I'm so excited.  I don't know what to say....Well..... my name is Samaria (if you didn't already get that from the title).  I am married to the worlds most supportive, loving and sometime overly sport addicted man.  I have 3 beautiful  daughters who love to bake with me ( not always a fun thing), and I make my money by working as a surgical tech.  I started baking kinda by accident.  Two years ago,my best friend was having a luau party for my niece and I kinda sorta told her that I could make a luau themed cake.  I pretty much had no idea what I was doing but was able to produce this cake:

Not bad for my first ever cake from scratch.  I had never worked with fondant nor have I ever had an encounter with royal icing, but I think it turned out OK.  Well, after I made that cake, I was hooked. I have been obsessing about cakes and cookies ever since.
